MySQL Password..Secure?

I want to set up an online address book, so that I can get snail mail addresses and phone numbers etc when I'm abroad -and don't have my laptop with me...I've set up a form to enter a password in order to connect to the MySQL database...How secure is it? Could someone hack it for example? Don’t think all my friends would be too happy if their details got out :(

Likewise, if the password is hardcoded into my php script, is it any less or more secure?
