I am thinking of changing the design of my hostix site (getyouhosting.co.uk) I have drawn some new graphics for it and I have made a low quality preview image (http://getyouhosting.co.uk/new_design.html) I would like some feedback and input as to what is good or bad about the new design.
Thanks
What have you others done for your hostix site? I'd be interested to look at your sites.

I think it looks good too.
Does occur to me though just how much latest news there might be. . . .

Thanks for the comments...:)
I have now put up a working single test page.
http://getyouhosting.co.uk/web/
I have a few questions though...
type connection you are on
load time - is it quick enough?
does it all align properly on the page? (graphics / text)
anything else?
what can go in the left columns? latest news may not be one to do as there may not be enough latest news, as you have pointed out.

600K DSL

just under 2 seconds
does it all align properly on the page? (graphics / text)
the only thing i can see *wrong* is where you have the control panel login, the text is a bit flush to the edges. The text "Control Panel Log-In:" is too big for the space provided. (WinXP Pro, MSIE 6.0)
anything else?
i can see a tiny white line about 1px high, aligned in the center, right at the bottom of the page. whats that for?

loads quickly on mine (600 cable)
Only 'problem' on mine is that the control panel log in bit is very hard to read as SPC said it is right up tight aganst the edge of the box which doesn't help but on my screen the colour contrast between the red text and the background is poor - I can make it out but it's not easy.
As for the left hand boxes - contact info, company info, links to your other sites, anything that doesn't change frequently so once it's there you can leave it.

I don't know either... it may be to do with alignment of the graphics / tables etc.
I drew the graphics in paint shop pro(psp), and used psp to slice and compress the images and also create the html to put the images correctly on the web.
I'll look into removing / hiding it.
It is not any tracking of any sort... (just look at the code for proof.)

Any ideas/help?
The white lines that show up at the bottom was created by paint shop pro (1x1 pixel image stretched using html), and it is necessary to keep the lines so that all the graphics are aligned in the page.
I have tried many ways to either get rid of the lines or conseal them.
I have not yet found a solution.
could anyone suggest anything?

You could make the 1x1 pixel image transparent. That should do the trick :)

I've already tried it and it still shows white (it is transparent at the moment!) :(

make the blank.gif with the colour #505050 (same as your back ground) - it doesn't show up then, I just tried it and it dissapears completely.

Thanks for that... although I used a 1x1 pixel image, instead of the 72x72 so that the image loads quicker.
I just need to sort the control panel out now.
Btw can you see the red text clearly enough on the contol panel login? I have made the red brighter.

oops my error - linked the wrong one! Only started with a 1 inch image to check the colour lol.

And yes, the control panel log in bit is more legible now.

Ive changed the background graphic for the control panel to include a heading.
What do you think now?
