This section or the forum as a whole?
A large part is moderate so no new posts appear until approved by a moderator. There is only on active moderator and he hasn't been on for a while (I post a few replies a while ago and none have turned up yet).
As for posting in the rest. I only check these forums generally when theres a problem and not the rest of the time.

I have posted a few questions and they still haven't appeared.
I am having big problems with emails and delays.

So what you are saying is this forum is run by a moderator not valuehost then.
If he/she goes on holiday or if busy at work / sick then theres no support or help on these forums at all because you cant get a post to show.

The forum is run by Valuehost and moderated by Valuehost (Premium Support, Support Team, Valuehost.com). They are also moderated by EncoderZ who is a VH customer who helps out. He is usually the one that approves the posts and answers questions. VH only tend to come on when theres a massive problem or EncoderZ alert them to a problem - he often fax's and rings VH so they can help people who are struggling.
I've never really seen EncoderZ absent too much when I've been here but of late he does seem to have dissapeared. I would've though VH would come on in his absense but theres nothing so far.
The Valuehost support section (http://hostforum.co.uk/forumdisplay.php?s=&forumid=1) is moderated. The Developers (http://hostforum.co.uk/forumdisplay.php?s=&forumid=6) and Internet promotion (http://hostforum.co.uk/forumdisplay.php?s=&forumid=14) sections are not. The moderation is mostly to control people who vent their anger in the form of spam when things go wrong.

You will probably find that your posts are indeed there, check the topic title
I have posted several posts, thought they haven't appeared (as I use the "view new posts" facility), but found that they have indeed appeared!
Equally, many of the established members no longer see the point in posting the same problems over and over again, as VH don't seem to be willing / able to do anything about the problems
All to often I get eMails :
"I was browsing your website, but when I enter the CGI part it comes up page not found, but when I close the window and try again it works, why?"
"Parts of the php / MySQL service are slow, very slow"
These seem to be the most common fault elements, probably due to VH stretching their resources too far
I have started using a service provider in Belgium, and don't experience ANY problems of ANY kind, even with the same software and bandwidth requirements
Lastly, has anyone received their affiliate payments for May yet?

Things are actually more stable at the moment, compared to the problems "we" experienced in 2003
However, there are still times when the service runs slow and/or stops
These are very rare now (commentators curse on this one?)
Sadly though VH have made little (no) efforts to resolve the problems, as they do still occur, and so in the early part of this year I started using a server in Belgium (also on the LINX)
The last straw this year was when AOL started implementing their white list for automated eMails
They decline any and all eMails from shared IPs, especially any that are not configured properly
VH have made NO efforts to resolve this, puching the blame back to AOL
I pointed this problem out even before AOL pointed this out, as I knew that it would soon become an issue
Lack of support and response to solve problems, means loss of customers
Poor appraisal from existing customers, means loss of customers
Lastly, the prices at VH are no longer competitive
500MB with 30GB of bandwidth can be had for just £40 now (although I pay in Euros)
Domain Names are about £8 each, per year, thats HALF of what VH charge...
I too provide my own "server status" page, provided away from VH at PlusNet (my ISP)
Its the only way to guarantee what is online!

PS anyone tracert'd Enc's site recently - non VH server ;) - Tracing route to encoderx.co.uk [213.171.218.196] was on UK6 and even the images for the serverstats page are missing, hmm, gone.
Business going good and great client base, amazing what you can do when you just answer questions :D

Its 700 megs and 31 gigs and it is possible to get a domain externally and redirect to your account (if its cheaper).
I do agree though the service has been poor and although its better at late the speed still slows. Personally though I've renewed my account at VH.
I did consider moving but it would've been an effort and although there are cheaper hosts out there its still risky when trying to sign up for a new one (looking at the webhostingtalk.com forums shows this).

500MB, 700MB, close enough....
500MB is what I signed up for 2 years ago, so that is what I compare
Why would I sign up for an account that is £70 here at VH, redirect it to another webhost?
If VH goes offline then visitors still can't get to any of my websites, it would make more sense to just update the nameservers!?!
I currently wait until the Domain Name is near the expiry cut off period (30 days) and then move all the content, then update the nameservers accordingly
Some customers here (at the lounge) have less than 200MB on their accounts...
I'll let you work that one out for yourself!
