View Full Version : Where is our e-mail going?
We've set up redirects for our website e-mail to different users personal ISP accounts and a catchall but there's a few problems as mail is being sent to these addresses but never arrives.
Is there any documentation that we can download or read with regards to settings in the control panel?
We've tested the ISPs by sending e-mails directly through them and they send and receive ok. It looks like there's a problem with the VH e-mail system somewhere. I sent 5 test e-mails about 3 hours ago and only 2 have been delivered so far. the others will either arrive later or be sent back as undiliverable. :(
EDIT: Make that 3 returned. We're getting there.

I will need to do some testing here to see what is wrong. Can you send an email to support@valuehost.co.uk with your account details and a description of the problem and I will follow up.
Also before you do that can you take off the catch all account and then try as it will be interesting to see if that makes a difference, it shouldnt really but with things like this its alway best to start with the account as standard. That way as we add things to the account and other things stop working we are able to sourcce the cause.
Look forward to hearing from you.
I think one of the big problems with regards to the control panel is that there is no information as to what the settings are for or what to do with them. I had a look at the VH Guide but there's nothing there! All the hyperlinks go to dead pages and the PDF manual is empty. We could really do with a "what happens when you press this" or some sort of walkthroughs of items like the e-mail settings.

Some of our highly experienced users are working on putting a guide together. This will be very useful once released as it will be written from an end user perspective. The guide is being developed as we speak and we will announce the release date on these forums. In the meantime do not hesitate to email us with your problems. Its what we are here for.
Thanks for your input Frazer but it looks like the redirection was the problem. I've reverted back to using the direct POP3 approach on the server and it seems to be running fine now. Much faster and more reliable than having mail come in to one account, be transfered to another via redirection and then delivered via ISP. ;)
