I am new to the web-osting world, but I have had two hosts in the past, only they kciked me off because I used to much bandwidth... grrrrrr

So, now u have not kicked me off I want to learn more about hosting sites.....

there are these features that I don't quite understand and I'd like to know about them and what their capabilities are.. and uses...

Your Own CGI-BIN and latest Perl Installed
Anonymous FTP Server
Support of WAP
Support of SSI

I don't expect an answer fast or in depth, just if u can give me a breif idea or some links or search engine keywords to try, so I can find out more :)

Cheers :D

I'll try and explain them but I'm no expert yet :p

Wap is the mobile phone technologies for accessing the web in a mainly text format and tbh was a flop although it can be usefull (train times and cinema times) sometimes. IRC the langauge used is XML which is more precise than html and less forgiving. You should beable to setup a sub-domain wap.domain.etc if you want one mail me if you need someone to test it out from a phone :D

*conjecture* I am not 100% sure of this info.

The cgi-bin as far as I know is where you place programs that can be called by a web page and carried out they are written in perl. Such as email forms and the like can be done this way.

SSI server side includes (maybe  ) no idea what they do yet.

Anon FTP download/upload of stuff without logging in ???

*end conjecture*

try a search for something like "tutorial" and the one you want in yahoo or the like and you should find some stuff :)
