Time scheduled password access

For some part of the site i want to give people access with a password and also i want that this is only during a certain period. Anybody who can tell me how to proceed?

use .htaccess & .htpasswrd & a cron job to move the files in and out of the appropriate folders at set times :D ho ho ho merry xmas
