Its not the software i'm using just a question as to whether i can access the mysql server externally... whether it be via a script or via some db management software.
I think you need to be a little clearer here in what you wish to achieve - to me it sounds like you want to host your DB on Valuehost and run the host scripts/application software elsewhere on another non-VH server - am I right????
If so then I don't think you'll be able to do that due to security reasons. You'll only be able to open the DB from a script that originates from a VH server.
HTH.

efc - you hit the nail on the head. I imagined that it wouldn't be possible cos of security issues... it just would've made my life easier. (which i am always all for).
Thanks for your response anyways :)

Most hosting providers allow you to connect to Myslql Database from a remote connection such as via ODBC or MySQL Control Center.
Can someone confirm if they can connect to there mysql database via MySQL Control Center?

Sorry
You may connect to MySQL from your web server or from Control Panel only.
Sincerely,

Oh well. Time to keep looking for a host :(
